Het Malinese duo \;Amadou &\; Mariam \;wordt al tientallen jaren beschouwd als hé\;t koningspaar van de afrobeats en global sounds. Sinds ze in 2005 het onnavolgbare (en door Manu Chao geproducete) 'Dimanche à\; Bamako' uitbrachten\, speelden Amadou &\; Mariam wereldwijd een massa mensen de vervoering in. Begonnen met meer traditionele Malinese muziek\, heeft het duo hun stijlenpallet gaandeweg uitgebreid met blues\, jazz en electronica. \;
